Finding the Best Implant Dentist for Your Tooth Replacement Needs

Implant Dentist in Denver CO Area

Most people are born with a full set of healthy teeth. However, aging, time, accidents, injuries, decay, and more can eventually cause tooth loss. When this happens, it’s important to replace the missing tooth. When you’re missing a tooth, it affects your smile. However, missing teeth also impact your chewing and speaking functionality. Oral health and bone structure in the jaw can also be affected. Dr. Drew Boyd has the perfect solution for you: dental implants.

Understanding Dental Implants

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth that can replace one or more missing teeth. One dental implant replaces one tooth. Dental implants consist of three components:

  • Titanium screw: A biocompatible titanium screw is positioned in the jaw, where it heals and fuses to the bone via a process called osseointegration. This screw is designed to function as a prosthetic root to replace the natural root that used to be there. It provides a strong foundation that will later support a porcelain crown.
  • Abutment: The abutment sits atop the screw to provide a buffer between the screw and the porcelain crown that will be placed once the implant has healed.
  • Crown: The porcelain crown is the component that is visible above the gum line. Your crown is custom-designed to match the color and shape of your natural teeth.

How to Find a Dental Implant Dentist

Many dental offices are not equipped to perform dental implant placement. Instead, they must refer the surgical part of the implant process to a specialist. At Dr. Drew Boyd’s dental office, every step of the dental implant process is done in-house. In some cases, we can even provide same-day implants.

A High-Tech Solution

Dr. Boyd uses advanced treatment technologies and diagnostics to support the most accurate and precise dental implant planning and placement. Moreover, the experience is safe and comfortable.

Same-Day Implants: Dental Issues Fixed Quickly

Some patients may be able to have their implants done on their first visit to Dr. Boyd’s office. To qualify for same-day implants, you need sufficient bone density in the jaw so the implant will be supported. There also must be no gum disease or an active infection at the site where the implant will be placed.

The Same-Day Implants Process

If you meet the criteria for same-day implants, the first step will be extracting the damaged tooth if it’s still present. If the tooth has already been extracted, Dr. Boyd’s team will surgically insert the implant into your jawbone. Then, a temporary tooth replacement option will be fabricated to give you immediate function and smile restoration. The implant will need some time to heal; once it’s healed, your permanent crown and abutment will be placed.
